Though right now you are too little to understand, someday you will. I have often wanted to write a letter to my babies. You never know what life holds so I decided to write a letter to my babies tonight. Sometimes I think of so many things that I want you to know, to be, to see – that my mind turns into a whirlwind.
Things that I want you to know:
• First of all, I love you. I love you more each and every day. When both of you were little I would watch you sleep. The feeling of love that filled my heart from watching my sleeping baby was, and still is, indescribable.
• Most things I do, I do for you. I know it sounds a little 80’s love song, but it is the truth.
• I want you to be strong. Not physically strong, mentally strong. You need to be.
• Just because everyone else is doing ‘something’. It does not necessarily mean it is the right thing for you to be doing. If it feels wrong to you. It is wrong. Do what you feel is right.
• Stick up for the underdog. Never pick on other people, stand up for them. That makes you stronger than them all.
• Love your family and spend as much time as possible with them. You will miss them when they are gone.
• Many other parents may let their children be rude, disrespectful, and NOT take responsibility for their children’s’ actions. I will do no such thing. If you get in trouble at school, it will be twice as bad when you get home.
• When I tell you that you have ONE warning, I mean you have ONE WARNING.
• Chase your dreams. I always wanted to work at Disney World, and though your grandparents were less than thrilled when I took a semester off from college – it was the experience of a lifetime.
• You have brought me unexplainable joy.
• I want you to go to college wherever you want. Your dad and I started saving as soon as each of you were born.
• You are spoiled by your grandparents. And lucky to have 2 sets of them!
• I read a proverb once for the mother of boys, and this is totally paraphrased from what I remember, but it said something to the effect of: Your first girlfriend will love you the hardest. Your wife will love you the most. But your mother will always have loved you the longest.
• Do not dwell on things that are out of your control. Just control the things that are.
I just want you to know how much I love you. You have completed our family. You have made me a mother. The love I have for you is like that of none other – I just wanted to make sure you knew.
Love, ~Mom
